Negative self talk is something that most of us do from time to time-

- it comes in many forms, it also creates high levels of stress, not only to us but to those around us.

If you’re not careful, it has effects on your body, mind, and your life. You’re not the only one that suffers. Everybody around you notices these changes in you.

Negative self talk can filter out in many ways, one of which is --- being linked to mental health problems.

Having negative thoughts leads to a decrease in motivation. Have you ever been so depressed that you didn’t want to do anything? You just wanted to lay around the house ? or even stay in bed? Being negative also leads to not wanting to socialize. Have your friends wanted to go out for dinner and you decided not to because …..[ so you make up an excuse ]?

Feeling this way also leads to lower opportunities. Did you ever notice that your stress levels are higher?

Other feelings of this kind of self talk is:

  • Limited thinking

  • You always want to be perfect

  • Always feeling depressed

  • Relationship challenges

Usually people who are negative ‘ feel alone ‘ OR they don’t have that big of a company.

They won’t have that many friends to keep them positive.

Ways to minimize negative self talk:

Your mind is a terrible thing to waste - engage in positivity -.png
  • Remember thoughts and feeling aren’t always real

  • Contain your negativity

  • Replace negativity with neutrality

  • Change your perspective

So, you ask, what’s this got to do with sleep? Societal factors play a role with higher stress levels and longer to-do lists [ which never get done ] the end result? ----- you don’t sleep

According to new research on sleep and negative talk, this may be affecting not just your physical health BUT our mental well being too.

The end outcome is for many unfortunate people is a negative cycle that’s difficult to break.
