Do you know how to read a Nutrition Facts Panel? [ Nutrition Label ]
Depending on what your goals are, you might not need or use all the information on the Nutrition Facts panel. This picture shows you what areas of the panel I think will help you stay on track with any type of goal.
Notice that ‘ Serving size ‘ and ‘ Servings per container ‘ are important for EVERYONE! Regardless of your goal, you should know what a serving size is and how many servings are in the container.

Deciphering the Description:
People use terms such as ‘ light ‘ , ‘ low ‘, ‘ reduced-calories ‘ and ‘ fat-free ‘ very haphazardly when referring to foods. On the food labels, these nutrition descriptions actually have defined meanings.
In the US, the government regulates the use of these descriptions and verifies that they are accurate. Below, you’ll find a list of terms that you see on a variety of food products. Become familiar with these terms so that next time you’re shopping you’ll know exactly how to interpret what you’re reading.
DON’T SNOOZE ON NUTRITION: HOW FOODS AFFECT SLEEP:
Research has found that certain nutrients in food can affect sleep, from how easy it is to fall asleep at a reasonable hour to the quality of rest we get throughout the night.
Note: I hope that you learn helpful strategies to become a smart grocery shopper. Whether you do the grocery shopping for your family or not, it helps to be knowledgeable about the foods you eat.
* Comparing Food Labels
Look at the Nutrition Label for the ‘ Reduced Fat ‘ and ‘ Club Crackers ‘. Compare the serving size, servings per container, calories, total fat, saturated fat, dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, and Calcium.
Which of these items on the Label are different? Which product is healthier? Why?
Nutrition DOES play a role in getting good quality sleep and the duration of sleep.
Nutrition IS one of the pillars of getting good sleep, not just exercising and weight training.
